HIGH ECTOPARASITIC LEECH LOAD IN THE MOUNTAIN TREE FROG Hyla eximia (Hylidae) CAUSED BY ANTHROPIZATION

چکیده
IIn June 2021, parasitism by leeches of the genus Helobdella was observed for first time in Hyla eximia during an irrigation canal monitoring. This event occurred shortly after canals were opened to supply agroecosystem The Cerrillo, Piedras Blancas, Toluca de Lerdo, State Mexico, Mexico. frog trapped one beds, which had abundant presence duckweed (Lemna minor). We analyzed load and distribution parasitic on frog’s body. An obvious difficulty individual locomotion observed. parasite 65 is highest ever recorded anurans. Our findings highlight importance host fitness suggest a potential relationship between anthropization magnitude these interactions.

متن کاملThe tadpoles of Hyla rufitela (Anura: Hylidae).
The validity of the published description of Hyla rufitela is questioned because the origin of the described tadpoles does not correspond to the distribution of this species. The present description, based on tadpoles that were hatched from two egg masses from the Caribbean lowland of Costa Rica, includes tadpoles raised to adult frogs to verify the species. The newly described tadpoles differ ...

Cytogenetic analyses were done on specimens of Hyla marginata and on three populations of H. semiguttata differing in morphology and in the physical parameters of their advertisement call, as well as in individuals of Hyla sp. (aff. semiguttata). All specimens had 2n=24 chromosomes with a morphology very similar to that of other 24-chromosome Hyla species. Hyla semiguttata and H. marginata show...
متن کاملColour and pattern change against visually heterogeneous backgrounds in the tree frog Hyla japonica
Colour change in animals can be adaptive phenotypic plasticity in heterogeneous environments. Camouflage through background colour matching has been considered a primary force that drives the evolution of colour changing ability. However, the mechanism to which animals change their colour and patterns under visually heterogeneous backgrounds (i.e. consisting of more than one colour) has only be...
